26th International Enamellers Congress

The future of porcelain enamel: innovation, research & regulatory expertise

From 1–4 June, PEMCO International will join the 26th International Enamellers Congress in Paris as a proud sponsor. This congress is one of the industry’s premier global gatherings dedicated to porcelain enamel technology, innovation, and collaboration.

Organised by APEV (Association pour l’Étude de l’Émail Vitrifié), the congress brings together a diverse audience of enamel producers, manufacturers, researchers, suppliers, and technical specialists from around the world. Together, they will explore emerging trends, share knowledge, and address the key challenges shaping the future of the industry.

As a long-standing leader in porcelain enamel solutions, PEMCO International is contributing to this year’s programme with two technical presentations tackling some of the sector’s most critical topics: the future of hot water tank enamels and the increasing complexity of regulatory compliance.

Navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape

Our first presentation shines a spotlight on one of the biggest opportunities (and challenges) facing the enamel industry today: navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. Titled “Managing Regulatory Compliance for Porcelain Enamel,” the session explores how rapidly evolving global regulations are transforming every stage of the material lifecycle, from production and documentation to handling and communication. It will take a closer look at key legislative developments shaping the industry, including global Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements, the European Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation, the Critical Raw Materials Act, and conflict minerals legislation driving responsible sourcing. Together, these frameworks are redefining how manufacturers approach compliance, sustainability, and material transparency within the European market.

Advancing hot water tank enamels

PEMCO’s second featured presentation turns to the growing demands placed on enamel coatings in domestic hot water storage systems, highlighting how evolving regulations are driving innovation in material performance. Titled “Hot Water Tank Enamel: Durability and Drinking Water Safety,” the session explores how upcoming European legislation is reshaping the market and influencing the development of next-generation enamel technologies. It will cover key factors such as the impact of new EU drinking water regulations, leaching behaviour at elevated temperatures (60°C and 85°C), and the critical link between enamel composition and chemical durability, alongside ongoing research into low-leach formulations designed for future compliance. Together, these insights demonstrate how targeted material innovation can enhance performance under demanding conditions, helping manufacturers stay ahead of stricter European requirements set to take effect from 2027.

Supporting the global enamel industry

We are proud to be one of the sponsors of the 26th International Enamellers Congress and supporting the industry through our continued commitment to advancing innovation, strengthening technical collaboration, and supporting the global enamel community.

Events like this play a vital role in bringing the industry together, creating opportunities to exchange knowledge, tackle shared challenges, and shape the future of porcelain enamel through collective expertise and forward-thinking dialogue.
