Innovation in the enamel industry is built on a strong foundation of shared knowledge, technical expertise, and collaboration across the value chain. As in previous years, PEMCO International contributed to this exchange by delivering a scientific presentation at the Austrian ÖEV Hauptsammlung this January. The event was hosted in Aichdorf, close to the boiler enameling manufacturer Austria Email.
This edition was particularly noteworthy as ÖEV celebrated its 80th anniversary.
Opening the presentation, Koen Lips, our Global Innovation Director, reflected on the enduring success of enamelled articles and the excellent properties that have supported their widespread use for decades.
The presentation then turned to the challenges and developments shaping the near future of the enamel industry. Significant changes are expected in boiler enamel and food-contact applications, areas that are increasingly influenced by new European legislation.
In addition, the availability of certain critical raw materials is once again under pressure. Supply constraints and market volatility are influencing pricing and long-term planning, reinforcing the importance of technical optimisation and alternative solutions.
With this contribution, PEMCO International reaffirms its commitment to driving innovation and fostering knowledge-sharing within the enamel industry.
